My journey into the world of luthier and instrument manufacturing is a testament to the passion I hold for music, and ultimately a commitment to my craftsmanship. In high school, I gained a mechanical background and always had a natural inclination for tinkering. This quickly paved the way for my exploration into building guitars. My initial foray involved re-finishing instruments during the 80’s era, driven by the need for a visually striking presence on stage. This creative spark evolved into crafting custom painted bass guitars and ultimately ignited my passion for guitar building.

Undeterred by being entirely self-taught, my journey took a pivotal turn 39 years ago when I decided to truly forge a path in the music world. Relocating from York, PA, to Baltimore, MD, I found my home in a thriving music community. Balancing a daytime carpentry job with nighttime music gigs, I dedicated the in-between moments to figuring out the art of lutherie. My hard work, tenacity, and uncompromising vision have resulted in Brubaker Guitars, a Baltimore-based business celebrating over 40 years in operation.
